Within Destiny 2's list of trophies/achievements lies one called "The Prestige" - Complete the Leviathan raid or Nightfall strike on Prestige difficulty. Not an easy accomplishment in general and much easier to do on a Nightfall than on the Raid it involves solid teamwork to get something like this. Do I have it myself ?? No, but just out of pure laziness, not getting my guy to light level 305 in order to do it.
Light level 305, now that brings up what has the community in an uproar. The only way to enter a Prestige raid or Nightfall is to be above that as the max level has now been raised to 330 because of the release of the newest expansion, "The Curse of Osiris". Can you get above 305 light without the expansion ?? No. Therefore, you are unable to get the Prestige trophy/achievement if you are a new player to Destiny 2 and aren't willing to shell out 49.99 for the full Season Pass or $25 for the first expansion.
Now you're all probably saying, well it can't be that big of a deal, not many people care about trophies and achievements right ?? There are tons of websites, forums, trophy/achievement guides, and a large amount of people who get games aiming to 100% complete that trophy. They can't without that purchase of the expansion now.
Which brings up a question ??
Yes, Activision and every other Triple A developer/publisher these days are greedy leeches, but where are Sony and Microsoft in this case going, "Umm guys listen if you want to add new trophies or achievements that's fine but please don't lock your old ones behind a paywall, we're the ones who have to deal with this too. Like can you just not lock things behind paywalls please guys ??" So both those companies didn't try hard enough to make sure dumb things like this didn't happen OR more likely didn't care.
Long story short: way to be complete asshats and lock a trophy & a chance to 100% a game behind a paywall that most people don't really want to get right now. It's BARELY acceptable for season pass owners and early adopters who had their chance, but for anyone who just got it or is getting it as a holiday gift.....it's a slap in the face from Activision/Blizzard & Bungie.
