I won't even get into Mega Man creator Keiji Inafune's botched shitshow of a project spiritual successor that was Mighty No. 9. Yet maybe that is what made the first Mega Man Legacy Collection so important, something to cleanse the fans pallets. I was totally okay with it, it was a great bundle of games all 6 of the classic NES titles on one disc. What could be better than to go back and play those classics and remind us of just how brutally painful they were ??
Maybe if all ten Mega Man games were there that would be better but "okay let's be realistic", I said, "Mega Man 7 and 8 weren't super fondly remembered and Mega Man 9 & 10 came out on PS3 and 360 maybe like 5 years ago so there's no real need to even have those as part of any collection."
Fast forward a year and a bit and now Mega Man 7, 8, 9, & 10 are going to be released in the 2nd Legacy Collection. That's where I put my this is nothing but an unnecessary cash grab foot down. PUT THEM ALL IN ONE COLLECTION OR DON'T PUT THEM OUT AGAIN. It is that simple. "Well Kyle, that won't make them as much money," no but they probably would've sold more copies of the original Legacy Collection with them all together and rather than focus on a 2nd Legacy for Original Mega Man they could do a Mega Man X Legacy Collection. And you know what, Capcom already did release all the Mega Man games together so they don't have an excuse to pull with this.
This game came out over 10 years ago and is the same thing as the first Legacy and almost 2nd Legacy Collection combined. That's why I think this 2nd Collection is unnecessary. Am I saying that getting those games is bad ?? Not at all but I know they could easily have put them all together and the Mega Man Anniversary Collection is proof of that. It would've given them the chance to touch up and redo this gem as well:
There are so many solid entries into the Blue Bomber's history that it is a shame to see this 2nd Legacy Collection be nothing but a cash grab that could've been a part of the original. It's not as big of a cash grab on the nostalgia train as Mighty No. 9 but we shall not speak of that right now. Me, well I have the Anniversary Collection and the Mega Man X Collection and though I do have the Legacy Collection I can't see myself picking up the 2nd Legacy Collection because I have 7, 8, 9, and 10 all on my Playstation 3. It's up to you guys to decide if you want to pick up this game knowing it is just a cash grab or not, they are solid games on there but it's the premise to me that has soured me on this Legacy Collection 2.
Bottom line, it is unfortunate but cash grab's are the way the industry leans these days ladies and gents.
