But for now...............begone Fall 2020 anime season............
So there was a bunch of anime in the Fall 2020 season but for some reason, I didn't feel a burnout or anything but I just only wanted to watch a few shows so I was really particular. I'll leave a note about shows that have caught my interest but didn't watch so I'll go back is I heard Jujutsu Keijin is amazing and Tonikawa seems cute, I'm unable to watch Danmachi because it's the 3rd season and I just started season 1 recently. That sums up what I'm going back to watch and this is what I did watch and you know how I run it down by now folks. BURN THE WITCH This is what I was waiting for the most of everything that was coming out, ya there was a lot that I was looking forward to but this was next level because Tite Kubo. I'm a massive Bleach fan, massive Bleach fan, and when he finished Bleach he wrote this short story called Burn The Witch and I was sad because I knew they weren't even going to be bothered to animate the 1000 Year Blood War Arc of Bleach so there's no way they'd do this. Then the anniversary of Bleach comes up and they're like "guess what, animated version of Burn The Witch in 2020 and 2021 we're animating the 1000 Year Blood War arc" I couldn't have been more psyched. So what exactly is Burn The Witch ?? Well it's basically explained as there are "two" London's, the regular London and Reverse London where it is the job of a group of people to control dragons from going berserk and ruining both versions of London. It's crazy good it's only 4 episodes and only hardcore Bleach fans will notice the nod to the series in the first episode because the coin Ninny has to get to Reverse London says SSWB. Which you figure out at the end of the series (and this isn't a spoiler) is the Soul Society Western Branch; basically Reverse London is the West's version of the Soul Society whereas the East's version of Soul Society is what we've come to love from Bleach. I think rather than explain what happens shot for shot, it's best to just watch all 4 episodes and enjoy the ride while we wait for the 1000 Year Blood War arc of Bleach. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED - 11/10 THE IRREGULAR AT MAGIC HIGH SCHOOL - SEASON 2 I tried introducing friends of mine to The Irregular at Magic High School this past year and to say the reception was bad was an understatement. Not a great way to start off my paragraph to get people interested in it but that being said I think that the show is amazing and it's been 6 years since the first season so I was incredibly pumped that the new season was coming out this year. To explain the show it's a mixture of different themes, a bit of action, thriller, slice of life, and drama. What turns a lot of people off is the "close" relationship that siblings Tatsuya and Miyuki have, but the thing is that during the first and season and even more now, it's explained why in particular that is. Anyways, the students are continuing their high school lives after the massive events of the end of season one, including Tatsuya (a military magician, brilliant engineer, and secret overpowered main character) used "Strategic Class Magic" to end an incident and it caused an event known around the world as Scorched Halloween. This left all the other countries wondering, what magician does Japan have that could pull that off ?? Which is what the United States military sends their young Commander Angela Sirius into Japan as a transfer student to First High; as the US military has high suspicions of Shiba Tatsuya being that man. Well what unfolds is a massive plot involving weird parasite creatures, more covert shenanigans, and the typical craziness that Irregular at Magic High School provides. Also another plot later on that leads into more twists and turns that involves Tatsuya and Miyuki's aunt, the head of one of the most important magical families in Japan. It's a series that you need to see from beginning to end and while there might be things that you need to get past, it's totally worth it. It's funny, beautifully animated, well acted, just great. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED - 10/10 HIGURASHI: WHEN THEY CRY - NEW It's weird to see Higurashi here, because it technically finished airing in 2007, so it's been 13 years since it was last on TV, and I guess unlucky 13 is the easiest number to explain Higurashi. Well what exactly is it about, well in the town of Hinamizawa, there was a war between the villagers and politicians who were trying to build a dam years ago that would've flooded the town. They killed a dam worker and ever since "strange events" have been occurring once a year during the Wataganashi festival, where one person in the village dies and one person disappears and they chalk it up to the deity they worship - Oyashiro-sama. When in reality, that's not what it is, and honestly having not played the visual novel or seen the original show from 2007 I am not 100% sure what it is yet either. I just know that several different scenarios have played out over the course of this show, each ending in a different way, and it's like there are people fighting against fate. I'm pretty sure it's our main boy Keiichi and the tiny little girl Rika. Anyways, since I never watched the original, I'm along for the ride on this one..............and it's one HELLA CRAZY RIDE. If you love mystery, psychological horror, murder, blood and gore, this is a show for you. Also the touch up on animation between this new style and the one from 13 years ago makes a drastic improvement. I love it. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED - 10/10 NOBLESSE Another WebToons collab with Crunchyroll and I have to say I had heard of this one based on previous anime things they had released that I never saw so I just went into Noblesse blind. It is amazing, if I could only use one word it's amazing; as far as these WebToons collabs go they've knocked it outta the park with Noblesse and Tower of God and fell flat with God of High School but that's still impressive. So alright, what's Noblesse about that makes it so good ?? Well to explain who the story is about what needs to be explained first is what a noble is; a noble is someone who has control over humans, not in a bad way, they treat them more as people that always need to be looked over because they will hurt themselves without the guidance of nobles. Then there is the Lord who you would figure is the most powerful noble, however that's merely a title for the highest ranking one, the one who truly reigns above all nobles is the Noblesse. The man who this story is about Cadis Etrama Di Raizel, Raizel, or as his friends call him just simply Rai. We first come across Raizel as a flashy high school student but quickly realize he's more than that when you realize the headmaster of his school, Frankenstein, is actually his servant and that there is both an evil organization and a group of nobles looking for a coffin (which happens to be Raizel's coffin). The way the evil organization gets dealt with is amazing, then we see more about the backstory of nobles, then shoot forward to Raizel's final confrontation with the other nobles that see him as a traitor. At least that's all we're going to get for now, I hope more gets animated so I don't have to pay to read the entire WebToon as they only give you two free chapters a day and there are so many in Noblesse at this point. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED - 10/10 I don't remember if Fire Force Season 2 leaked into this season or not if it did, I watched that too but this was it honestly, these four shows, this is the shortest roundup I've ever had and with tons of mega hitters like Attack on Titan: The Final Season, Promised Neverland Season 2, That Time I Was Reincarnated As A Slime Season 2, Part 2 of Re:Zero Season 2, The Quintessential Quintuplets Season 2, Seven Deadly Sins Season 4, Dr. Stone Season 2, and the continuation of Higurashi on the horizon I know that Winter 2021 is going to be a lot busier and I mean a lottttttt busier. Like 8 mega hitters is insane. I'm looking forward to it.
But for now...............begone Fall 2020 anime season............
