BUT, in two shows this season there have been episodes which have drawn a lot of conversation from both within the anime community and outside of the anime community. While I could do both at once in an article since each discusses something different I would rather handle them seperately. I am only discussing them because of A) how heavily they have been talked about and B) because friends asked me too. So to my other friends or to other readers of this blog if it makes you feel upset my apologies. Basically both new series Rising of the Shield Hero and old series but new season of Sword Art Online have had one episode with heavy emphasis on sexual assault and issues and outcomes that follow.
First, I want to talk about Rising of The Shield Hero because it is much different than Sword Art Online in it's dealings with it. Rising of the Shield Hero deals with false accusations of sexual assault and not actual sexual assault. To do that let's lay out the plot of the show's first hour long episode and what led to this in the first place.
And the girl, she just looked at him like this during the situation, because she knew what she did.
Despite being freed by the Spear Hero, she slaps him and refuses her freedom, and comforts Naofumi who realizes for the first time that she's the only person in this whole new world that actually considers him a person, a genuinely good person. While the Spear Hero is just disgusted with the fact he has a slave, even the Sword and Bow Heroes watching stick up for Naofumi for once. "If you still think that about them after this, you're wrong".
Naofumi's accusations did lead him to the one thing he needed most in the world he found himself in, a friend.
The way Rising of the Shield Hero dealt with things was well done and a good way of approaching the subject.
