Here's a good question, how does someone who's never written anything in their life not even the WWE comic with Mick Foley, expect to step into the big leagues and immediately start in the Thor: Annual #1 coming out early next year. I respect CM Punk for what he does, he is a tremendous athlete, entertainer, and actor who put his body on the line for years in professional wrestling to the point he is physically unable to do so anymore. So his first venture post wrestling is to write a comic for Marvel. Normally, I don't question decisions made by Marvel or DC because for the most part they know what they're doing but in this case I have to truly question Marvel's decision making skills. CM Punk has literally no previous writing experience, no comic experience, he's never written anything out there in the public and you're putting a story of one of your main characters in his hands. It's basically like taking any of your fans, handing them a pen and saying....go for it, you got this.
I understand the draw by having a "celebrity" write one issue for you but CM Punk is barely a celebrity anymore as he has been out of the WWE for several months and all but only die hard wrestling fans still care. It's a risky decision for Marvel to make, very risky, at least it's only one issue and if it bombs that's unfortunate but they will have learned a valuable lesson in who they choose to write an issue of their comic.
Marvel, I do have a question......I have some ideas, can I write the next X-Men comic ??........it's just as risky a decision, so make that call people, make that call.
