First off, apologies for not Photoshopping a better looking Defenders picture, just grabbed all and threw them together because I disliked all the ones they had on Google.
Second, how I feel about the individual Netflix series for Daredevil, Jessica Jones, Luke Cage, and Iron Fist & what they will be combined as The Defenders.
There MAY be spoilers if you haven't watched this stuff, doubt it because I'll be vague, but I'll start off with how things started:

So for a lot of people they had a bad taste in their mouths about Matt Murdock/Daredevil as a viable superhero character thanks to the movie with Ben Affleck in it. While I didn't find the movie to be great, or good, it wasn't terrible but I knew they could do better with Daredevil. That's what Netflix did, they made him awesome again.
Matt Murdock is a guy who has to juggle living between being a lawyer to get people justice in a court of law and being the vigilante Daredevil and dealing justice to those who won't see a courtroom. Sure a vigilante living like that is a typical concept, except Murdock is blind. Alright so what do I think of it ??
I love Daredevil because they make Murdock a real human being, yet at the same time a badass, but not an invincible one he's been on the verge of death several times. He's also a witty, funny guy when he's around his best friend Foggy Nelson, an emotional mess around Karen and Elektra, tries not to (yet constantly) puts pressure on his nurse friend Claire, has an understanding in the Punisher's thoughts but not his methods of justice, hates his old mentor Stick, rightfully puts the Kingpin behind bars, etc.
It's Daredevil's nonstop action mixed with just enough clever, interesting, story that has me hooked on it. It's the 2nd best Netflix Marvel franchise. The best is:

I like Daredevil but this by far my favourite of the 4 shows setting up the Defenders.
Jessica Jones is a detective, a filthy mouthed, take no shits, give no fucks, detective; who has super strength, can "jump high" she can't fly and she'll tell you that, and one other thing...she has a major case of PTSD (Post Traumatic Stress Disorder). I think that is one major appeal to Jessica Jones, that she is as strong as she is as a person/"superhero" but has a very big and very real issue to deal with. Her enemy in the series, Kilgrave, is the one who messed up her head that badly and David Tennant does an amazing job playing him. He's one of the nicest people, a guy who was a funny Doctor Who (apparently don't watch it), yet he makes you hate him so much in the show doing the evil things he does to people and they aren't bad things they are evil. Luke Cage was also introduced in this series and he made it more impactful because decisions Jessica made in her past strongly influenced Luke's life. He is a necessary part of her development and she is for him. The whole show has strong character development for every member of the cast, a solid story, it doesn't ever feel disjointed or all over the place. By far my favourite of these series, I can't think of much it did wrong to be completely honest, they even got rid of her ridiculous suit though her best friend Trish DOES try to get her to wear it.

Speaking of Luke Cage, I mentioned him and how important he was in Jessica Jones and how he played a part in her tale and how he did in his. Ya well the only development from that series that follows him is "you know that your ex shot you in the face with a shotgun and you just had a headache Luke." He is a shell of what he was in her series and that's a shame. It basically boils down to a revenge story, someone kills Luke's father figure and he's out for revenge even if he has to beat down everyone in Harlem to do it. That's one more thing that had me not enjoying it as much either, he went from Hell's Kitchen to the most cliche place for an African-American guy to be...a baber shop in Harlem. It isn't that I disliked Luke Cage as a series, it was an enjoyable watch, however Jessica Jones version of Luke is better and it's weaker than the other two entries but not the weakest. They just took too much from Luke's character and made him a weaker character and it created a weaker series because of it. We save the least impressive series thus far for last.
I'm not done it yet, but this is simple enough for me to say that thus far it is the weakest of the 4 in the Defenders group of Netflix series. Yet, Iron Fist had/can have potential it's mixing Dr. Strange and martial arts together which sounds amazing but then at the same time, Danny's backstory is very similar to Oliver Queen (Green Arrow) it's not that the series IS Arrow but reminds me enough of it to turn me off right now but maybe it will get better. I'll find out for sure as I go and I know you guys might ding me on not finishing it whereas I did finish Daredevil, Jessica Jones, and Luke Cage. I felt that I need to get this out there and I'm not digging Iron Fist at the moment but will finish it eventually.

Bringing us to
THE DEFENDERS
Do I think it will be good ??
Yes I do think it will be good because characters like Jessica Jones and Luke Cage have history, I think that saving Hell's Kitchen and New York in general will give all of them respect from Daredevil, and Iron Fist is an unknown to me at least. I can't say I've ever delved into any Defenders comics but the individuals themselves hold up as characters. The talent speaks for itself as do their backstories and speaking of talent; they've already shown who the big villain is going to be for the series/movie the legendary Sigourney Weaver.

With her, they're set for a villain and the cast they have already from the assembled casts of all four previous shows means they have a solid base and they can only improve from there. We get us some Frank Castle to come back and assist these four and things will be set for sure. I have to be optimistic about this, I'm not going to say that it's going to be fantastic because it's Marvel because not everything they do is amazing but with these people doing it I'm sure I will be pleased.
I know this will be something I'll keep my eye on and am looking forward to just as much as a Season 2 of Jessica Jones.
