This incident obviously has made its rounds on the internet by now of course because it is hot news in the internet & YouTube community.
So just what is this incident ??
Well, there's a typical dude-bro YouTuber that appeals to the lowest common denominator of the community named Logan Paul and he recently took a trip to Japan. Now, that may sound fine a YouTuber on a trip, but it's what he did on that trip that has caused a lot of commotion. First things first, I've never seen any of these videos whether it was the terrible one we'll talk about in a moment or any of his other trip videos because I refuse to give this jackass any sort of traffic. The fact that he's probably gotten more traffic and hits on his page because of this is disgusting in its own right but it's an issue that needs to be discussed. Well on dude-bro's trip to Japan he did several insulting things to the culture and to the people in just "normal videos" like apparently hitting people on the street randomly with a fish and a octopus tentacle, then he dressed up in a kimono and wearing a facemask and other "stereotypical Asian" attire went around the city like a fool, already he's made every non-Japanese person look foolish to the people of their country.
But that's not the worst thing, that's not what has people rattled. The video in question, what has made people so pissed off at this guy is what happened during his trip to Aokigahara more commonly known as "The Suicide Forest". Now, most human beings have what's called common sense and common decency, not this guy. Not one shred of common decency and you know it when he happened to come across a Japanese man hanging from a tree in the forest, a man who has clearly taken his own life in the recent past, and rather than shut the cameras off and pay their respects and let the proper people know about it this jackass not only films it to get views but uses it to get likes on the video and of all things puts the man in the fucking thumbnail of the video.
It is something that made headline news in Japan and became big news here as well and it deserves to be because this is what happens when you let 20 something year old idiots who've never worked a real job in their lives because YouTube exists, who think everything important in the world revolves around what nonsense they can film, and who have no respect for anyone but themselves act when there is a heavy situation thrust upon them.
To say I'm disgusted is an understatement, it proves to me that we live in a society now where younger people don't take anything seriously and that "so-called YouTube celebrities" who lead these packs of dumb kids (and usually are just a dumb kid themselves) just are encouraging shittier and shittier behaviour out of the youth of today. It also says to me that mega corporations like Google, that own YouTube, aren't really willing to put their foot down and go, "look kid we don't care how many subscribers you have, that garbage is unacceptable for human beings to do, you're banned from the site." But no, it seems like he made an apology and is just going to get a slap on the wrist.
If this is the kind of thing people let slide what next ??
I'm not the only one just frustrated, two YouTube people I watch: Joey "The Anime Man", who hosts a show about anime and related topics, and Gaijin Goombah, who hosts a show dedicated to cultural things in video games and anime (not just Japanese, it could be religious, could be Greek or Roman, could be something else weird, he tries to expand knowledge of culture through games) are incredibly frustrated and they both had opinion weigh in videos that I suggest you take a look at. Joey's is very good especially because he took his girlfriend to Aokigahara and they did do a sponsored video there, to show what the place was like, and it was how you respect a place like that and he brings that up in the video. Just watch these.
Also again, seriously kid, grow up.......I hope YouTube grows a pair and teaches you an actual lesson, if not, I'm at least glad the Japanese government told you to back your bags and GTFO of their country.
