So much hype around the women's division ever since the phenomenal matches and shows in NXT has always been around four women: Charlotte Flair, Bayley, Sasha Banks, and Becky Lynch a.k.a the Four Horsewomen. Expecting WWE to push those four to the moon when they hit the main roster was to be expected especially since they were all favourites of Triple H.
Yet, here we are post-Payback and the most successful female in wrestling right now is Alexa Bliss and has been for the majority of the time of a legit women's division in the sport.
No discredit to any of those other four girls I like all of them and they do put on amazing shows and amazing matches but they are all missing something since hitting the main roster. All of that missing something was made up in the girl who is the most complete package on both shows right now. Alexa Bliss. I think WWE realized that as well because Bliss has done one thing no one else has, she is the first woman to hold both the SmackDown Women's Championship and the RAW Women's Championship. The only other woman who has a chance to do that is Charlotte Flair but the fact they decided to pull the trigger on Bliss first says they realized how good she is.
Especially considering in order to be RAW Women's Champion she beat Bayley, in her hometown, and Bayley prints money for the company with the merch she sells and has been the one everyone expected to be "the one" when she won the title. No, Alexa Bliss is "the one" and a big reason behind her success is the work she's put in since hitting the main roster.
I find that all four of those other women have put out lackluster character performances, their matches are still amazing with some even 5 star, somehow regardless knowing their position in the company and with the boss that things will be handed to them. While I think that is true and some of those titles have been handed on a silver platter especially to Charlotte, it isn't like they didn't try at all. They still work their butts off and do amazing things so I'm not discrediting them at all, with the exception of Charlotte I'm a fan in fact.
They try, yet none of them tried as hard as Alexa Bliss.
When you watch NXT stuff, she wasn't all that great and her original character was awful, managing Blake & Murphy helped but she still wasn't that great. At least in my opinion anyway. Fast forward to her original work on SmackDown Live and she was mediocre but the thing was Bliss was always trying to improve and that was evident, she was trying to be a good heel, then once she became #1 Contender to Becky Lynch everything changed. Her promos became more scathing, she hit where it hurts and generally took personal attacks at Becky, she attacked like a heel should and a proper one at that. While Charlotte was the heel on RAW she always seemed more whiny and bland than a true heel but Alexa was a heel in the proper sense, she belittled people, attacked them from behind, was miserable if she lost but took it out on others, cheated to win.
Truth be told, I've never seen a heel female wrestler as good as Alexa Bliss.

The woman is athletic as hell to boot, she isn't just a girl who comes out and cuts promos and leaves, no she is able to put on great matches in her own right. I do think she isn't on the level of the Four Horsewomen in that regard yet, that 5 star match hasn't been evident yet but given the right partner I think she's capable of one.
Her success comes from a drive and determination that I don't see from other women in the locker room. I think that she saw that a lot of people looked down on her when she hit the main roster because she wasn't an elderstatesman like Natalya or the Bellas. That she wasn't Paige or the Horsewomen. That she was just a relatively meh runt from NXT that no one expected to do well. A me against the world mentality seems to have helped Bliss evolve on a pace that none of the other women have.
Alexa Bliss being a heel is something she's meant to be, she flourishes in her role as a heel, someone like Charlotte is a good heel but can go face (sort of) but Bliss is a heel through and through. She's a spiteful, mean little package of toughness that you don't want to deal with, the bitchy girl we all hated but always got what she wanted no matter how she had to do it, the drama girl we all despised with the holier than thou attitude. To be honest, her being a heel her whole career suits her to a Ted DiBiase level, which I know might seem like high praise but I just don't see her in any other role at all.
That's Alexa Bliss.
She was a girl successful despite things not truly being in place for her to be the successful one, not self made by any means but worked incredibly hard and got better with the talent around her to produce great work and now it's only going up for her. She is the Queen of RAW and was the Queen of SmackDown, Alexa Bliss is just a talented woman in charge of a strong division on an otherwise boring show called RAW.
